Alex Cobb falls out short of no-hitter, but Giants top Reds - ESPN
San Francisco Giants right-hander Alex Cobb lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning, but stayed in the game to finish out a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Oracle Park.
Cobb had been nearly flawless entering the ninth, facing just one batter over the minimum before he issued a one-out walk and then an RBI double.
Cobb then struck out Elly De La Cruz, completing a one-hitter on his 131st pitch of the night.
Cobb struck out eight and improved to 7-5 this season.
The Giants remain without a no-hitter since June 9, 2015, when Chris Heston pulled the feat against the New York Mets.
