Alex Albon says he wants to 'attack' 2022 with Williams as he makes his F1 return

Alex Albon makes his return to Formula 1 for the 2022 season and it appears he is ready to attack the campaign with all he has got, backed by his new team; Williams.

The Thai-British driver was last in the sport in 2020 with him partnering Max Verstappen at Red Bull but it was a difficult year for him and he was replaced there by Sergio Perez for 2021.

Indeed, Albon decided with Red Bull to make the switch to DTM for last year and that would have built his confidence back up, with him earning a top step finish during the campaign.

Now, he is back in F1 with Williams and though race victories might be out of their reach despite the new regulations coming in, he is ready to attack the season and see just how far they can go:

“It feels really good,” said Albon at the unveiling of Williams’ 2022 livery.

“It feels, you know, I spent a while away from the race seat, and to get back into it, get back into the thing that I’ve wanted to do my whole life feels amazing.

“The team’s been super nice. They clearly know what they’re doing and on my side, it was going to a team where, yes, you can tell there’s trust there straight away – they believe in me – and on my side I’m trying to bring as much knowledge, as much experience as I can to them. 

“It’s different… but there is a feeling that there’s going to be a bit of rust to get rid of. I think on that reset of new car, new regulations, that goes in my favour; it’s a reset for everyone. My plan is to hit the ground running as hard as I can.
