Aldi returns controversial limited edition crisps that have left foodies divided

Aldi's most contentious crisp flavour has made a comeback to the delight of many shoppers who have described them as 'incredible'.

The budget supermarket chain has reintroduced the popular snacks for a limited period under their 'special buys' range. While many fans are advocating for the crisps to become a permanent offering, there are those who remain sceptical about the unconventional taste.

Retailing at £1.09 for a 150g bag, the Specially Selected Garlic Bread Crinkle Cut Crisps first appeared last summer and have been absent since then. However, they are making a temporary return alongside two other flavours: Pizza Margherita and Nduja Spiced.

"Aldi's unique garlic bread crisps are back by popular demand," announced the supermarket giant. "In a Peter Kay-worthy mash-up, the nation's cheapest supermarket has combined two favourite foods, garlic bread and crisps, to create a delicious snack."

The crisps gained popularity after TikTok user Jack Eats Everything discovered them in-store. In a recent video, he expressed his excitement: "So happy these are now available in Aldi. Can't wait to try some tomorrow! " His post has since garnered an impressive 11,000 views and over 100 comments, reports the Mirror.

However, while some looked forward to sampling the limited edition crisps, it's evident that not everyone will be eager to grab another pack.

"Top tier crisp these," One customer expressed their satisfaction, "[They] remind me of those rock-hard mini garlic bread crisps from many years ago."
