Alan Reynolds gets first win as Bohs prove too good for Galway

Goals in either half by Jevon Mills and James Akintunde earned Bohemians a 2-0 victory over Galway United at Eamonn Deacy Park.

On a clear evening in Galway, the atmosphere was buoyant as United came into the encounter against Bohemians in a confident mood following their 1-0 away victory over Derry City last Friday.

Alan Reynolds, in charge of Bohemians for the second occasion, saw his side defeated by Shamrock Rovers last time out, but he will be more pleased with this performance and result.

And it was Reynolds' team who started the brighter on Corribside.

The Bohs attack was lively from the get-go as left winger Dylan Connolly, in particular, stood out in the opening 45 minutes with his driving runs at the opposition defence.

As the Tribesmen struggled to gain a grasp of the game, it was Bohemians who took the lead in the 21st minute.

Dayle Rooney, who came to the rescue with an important block at the other end of the pitch just before the goal, delivered a delicious free-kick that was met delightfully by the head of Jevon Mills in front of a joyous travelling support.

The Phibsborough club continued to look sharp and were unlucky not to go two to the good before the break.

Connolly first tested Brendan Clarke with a curled effort before Rooney was unable to hit the target from close range after a clever turn to create the opportunity.

The second half resumed in the same fashion and the second goal duly came in the 57th minute.

Rooney, once again the assister - this time from a corner kick - found the head of James Akintunde to double Bohs’ advantage.

United grew into proceedings as the game progressed and almost halved the deficit midway through the second period.
