Alan Haines goes full Mike Dean when giving Shrewsbury's Tom Flanagan a red card
Referee Alan Haines went full Mike Dean in sending off Tom Flanagan in the League One clash between Shrewsbury Town and Accrington Stanley on Saturday afternoon.
Dean, who retired from refereeing this summer, was a colourful character who oversaw games in a unique manner.
One of his most memorable moments on the pitch came in 2018 in the Premier League clash between Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth.
After Lewis Dunk’s tough challenge on Callum Wilson, Dean quickly gave him a second yellow card and said ‘off you pop’ to the Brighton skipper.
Haines bought back memories of Dean when sending off Flanagan.
After a mini skirmish inside the box, Flanagan lost his temper and through an opponent to the ground.
He then continued his complaints to the referee.
