Alan Browne set to mark Mbappe as Ireland name XI for France

Alan Browne looks set to man-mark Kylian Mbappe as Ireland take on France in tonight's Euro 2024 qualifier at Parc des Princes.

The Preston North End midfielder has played in the right wing-back position before for Ireland and he seems to be the man who will be monitoring the danger on the left side of the France attack.

Stephen Kenny has included Shane Duffy back in the starting XI, while John Egan has been passed fit to start this vital encounter.

Nathan Collins will make up the three-man defence with Dara O'Shea having to settle for a place on the bench. Enda Stevens also returns to the side in the left wing-back position.

Adam Idah will lead the attack in the absence of the injured Evan Ferguson.

The Norwich striker is expected to be the furthest forward for this vital clash in the heart of Paris, with Cheidozie Ogbene also named in Stephen Kenny's side, joining Idah in attack.

Josh Cullen, Jayson Molumby and Jason Knight will play in midfield with the latter likely to play a more advanced role, looking to join the front two in attack where possible.

Gavin Bazunu remains in goal - reports in the French media today described the former Shamrock Rovers stopper as being "far from imperial".

France have named a predicted side for the visit of Ireland as Didier Deschamps side look to make it five wins in a row in Group B.

Brothers Lucas and Theo Hernandez have been named in the back four, while Mbappe, as expected, will captain the side.

France (4-2-1-3): Maignan; Kounde, Upamacano, L Hernandez, T Hernandez; Rabiot, Tchouameni; Griezmann, Dembele, Mbappe, Giroud

Republic of Ireland (5-3-2): Bazunu: Browne, Duffy, Egan, Collins, Stevens; Molumby, Cullen, Knight; Ogbene, Idah
