Al Ain lock horns with Al Jazira in Adnoc Pro League derby clash

Al Ain manager Serhiy Rebrov has called on his team to be at their best when they meet Al Jazira in matchweek three of the Adnoc Pro League at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium on Friday.

The defending champions travel to Abu Dhabi on the back of a hugely impressive 7-0 thrashing of Al Dhafra last week. That result came after Al Ain were held to a 1-1 draw by Ajman on the opening night.

“We had mixed results and what we did in the last two weeks is behind us,” Rebrov said.

“We are heading for a derby game and we need to bring the best football to the table to fulfil our ambitions of winning this game. We have prepared well and we are also aware this is very tough game.

“We are into a new season and everyone expects a lot from the team. That’s possible but only if we play every game as if it’s a final.”

Rebrov has a full squad at his disposal but insisted his selection will not be decided until the day of the match.

“Everyone is training and we have no injuries,” the Ukrainian added. “We still have 48 hours before the match to assess the players and decide the best line-up.”

Meanwhile, Marcel Keizer’s Al Jazira will be bidding to maintain their perfect record.

“It will be a difficult and important match but we will go into it with the intention of giving the fans a good performance and getting the full points,” the Dutchman said.
