Ailish Considine's trophy-laden AFLW career draws to a close

Ailish Considine has brought the curtain down on her six-year spell in the Women's Australian Football League (AFLW), the North Melbourne Kangaroos have announced.

The Clare Ladies footballer initially signed for the Adelaide Crows in 2018, becoming their first ever international women's player, and went on to be part of the club's squad as they won two AFLW Grand Finals, the first in 2019 and again in 2022.

Writing in her RTÉ Sport column at the time following the latter success, Considine said: "This win feels very different to my first one in 2019. That was so unexpected and unknown. This time around it was more of a relief."

The 31-year-old joined North Melbourne Kangaroos earlier this year as a replacement for two-time All-Ireland winner Vikki Wall who was integrated into the Irish women's rugby Sevens programme.

"It's no easy feat to move to the other side of the world to play a new sport, and we congratulate Ailish on her career and what she has achieved," North Melbourne head of women's football Nathan Hrovat told the club website on Monday morning as the club announced that Considine had "called time" on her time in AFLW.

After six seasons across two clubs, dual premiership player Ailish Considine has called time.

Congratulations @Duckyc7, we all wish you the best for your next chapter
