AFLW round-up: Wall grabs first goal, Staunton adds two

It was a good day for Essendon pair Joanne Doonan and Megan Ryan as they earned a massive 84-32 win over the West Coast Eagles on Sunday.

Doonan had five disposals and two tackles to her name while Ryan, on the emergency list, did not feature.

Aisling McCarthy was a bright spark for the home side in Perth, nabbing a goal and a behind and ending up with 15 disposals.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Aileen Gilroy was on the scoreboard with a behind but Hawthorn were easily second best against Richmond as they lost 44-9.

Clara Fitzpatrick's St Kilda side lost 46-20 to Melbourne.

In Saturday's action, Vikki Wall kicked a goal – her first in the sport - for North Melbourne but it wasn’t enough to prevent them losing 30-16 to Adelaide. Erika O'Shea also featured for the Kangaroos, and had five disposals and four tackles.

The GWS Giants were huge 65-18 winners over the Sydney Swans with Cora Staunton racking up two goals and two behinds while Brid Stack also appeared for the winners.

Collingwood came out on the right end of a low-scoring affair away to Geelong, the Magpies prevailing 15-11.

Aishling Sheridan claimed one of those 15 points with a behind while Sarah Rowe also played.

Orla O’Dwyer also had two behinds to her name as Brisbane trounced the Gold Coast Suns 82-9.

On Friday, Orlagh Lally, Áine Tighe and Amy Mulholland all featured as Fremantle lost 23-20 to the Western Bulldogs.

Tighe had a storming first half and managed a goal, but the unbeaten Bulldogs edged home.
