After two years traversing the country in COVID-19 border limbo, state governments have all but ensured the league shouldn’t need hubs in 2022.

COVID, of course, still threatens to disrupt teams but at least some stability is on the horizon for fans eagerly waiting to return to their weekend rituals.

Each team will play 22 games and have one bye across a 23-round fixture.

The 22 games will consist of 11 home games and 11 away, while they will play 12 teams once and five teams twice.

The AFL will air live on Channel 7 and 7mate throughout 2022.

Thursday and Friday night games headline the schedule alongside Saturday nights and most Sunday afternoons.

Monday blockbusters on Seven include Hawthorn-Geelong (Easter Monday) and the Essendon-Collingwood ANZAC Day clash.

Fans in South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland can also watch their local clubs on 7mate. Check local guides for details.

The AFL also airs on subscription TV service Foxtel.

Channel 7 does not own the rights to stream the AFL on 7plus.

The AFL is streamed live on subscription service Kayo Sports.

The AFLW regular season concludes on March 13, with the finals taking place across the first three rounds of the AFL men’s season.

The premiership will be decided when the grand final is played in the first weekend of April.
