AEW: Young Bucks original Forbidden Door plans revealed

The AEWX NJPW Forbidden Door Supershow featured the best talent from both promotions colliding. However, it appears plans changed for the AEW World Tag Team Champions leading into the event.

The event saw The Young Bucks have a one-night-only Bullet Club reunion, as they teamed with El Phantasmo to take on Darby Allin, Sting and Shingo Takagi, known as Dudes With Attitudes.

The Bucks would fall short as Allin Sting and Takagi emerged victorious.

However, reports state that the plans for The Bucks were meant to be a lot different in regards to their involvement at Forbidden Door.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks were meant to take on the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions at the event.

The Bucks were more than happy to have plans change and be a part of the trio’s match.

The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles would be involved in one of the highest stake tag matches in history as champions United Empire took on ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR and Roppongi Vice in a triple threat winner-take-all tag team match.

ROH and AAA Tag Champions FTR would emerge victorious in this bout, capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles for the first time in their history. Also, potentially setting up an AEW World Tag Team Title match in the future with The Bucks that could have a winner take all stipulation.

FTR has sat in the number one spot on the tag rankings for months, so it’s only a matter of time before old rivals meet again in the biggest tag match in history.
