AEW: Top star to undergo surgery
It was recently reported that a top AEW star would be out of action for months after having to undergo major surgery after their appearance at last Sunday’s ALL OUT PPV.
According to Wrestler Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that top AEW star Christian Cage suffered a similar injury to CM Punk, with a torn tricep, which will result in him being out of action for an estimated eight months.
Over the past month or so, Christian Cage has been in the spotlight of one of AEW’s hottest rivalries with former protege and friend Jungle Boy, where the two have incorporated real-life situations and scenarios into their narrative.
The rivalry began after Jurassic Express lost their AEW World Tag Team Championships to The Young Bucks. As a result, Christian hit Jungle Boy with an Unprettier and cinchairto to put him on the shelf for a few weeks.
In the meantime, Christian created a newer, more tenacious version of Luchsaurus, leading him to numerous dominant victories.
Jungle Boy’s return saw Luchasaurus re-align with his tag partner, helping him get his revenge on Christian.
ALL OUT was confirmed to be the place where Jungle Boy would get his revenge, but he would get the exact opposite as Luchasaurus turned on him during his entrance.
Luchasaurus chokeslammed Jungle Boy on the stage before dropping him with another through the table at ringside right in front of Jungle Boy’s family.
Jungle Boy refused to call the match off, and Christian hit a spear, followed by the Unprettier to pick up a quick and emphatic victory.
The longevity of the match could be due to the condition and seriousness of Cage’s injury before the match and the precautions taken to make sure it didn’t get any worse.
