'Act fast' - Manchester United fans air Liverpool transfer worry after midfield update

Manchester United fans are concerned about a late swoop from Liverpool in the race to sign Sofyan Amrabat.

MEN Sport understands that United are open to signing the Morrocan international if they make room with sales in midfield. Fred is free to leave, with Fulham interested, but the possibility of offloading Scott McTominay has dwindled with the news that academy midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is set to be sidelined for two months with an ankle injury.

United turned down £20million from West Ham United for Harry Maguire and prior to Mainoo's injury were looking to bring in £40million-plus McTominay. Donny van de Beek is another player United could move on to raise funds.

With any move from United for Amrabat likely to fall at the end of the window, fans are concerned Liverpool could swoop. They have sold Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, making a defensive midfielder their top priority.

Amrabat has one year left on his contract and Fiorentina want to sell him this summer and so his price may drop as the end of the window approaches. That could tempt Jurgen Klopp to swoop in if other targets become unattainable.
