“Absolute player” – Blackburn Rovers’ Tyrhys Dolan directs praise at current Southampton player

Tyrhys Dolan has named former Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong as the best player that he has featured alongside during his career to date.

Dolan played in the same team as Armstrong during the previous campaign.

Armstrong managed to set the Championship alight with his attacking performances last season as he scored 28 goals at this level and chipped in with five assists.

The forward’s exploits for Blackburn attracted the attention of Southampton last summer who opted to sign him for a fee believed to be in the region of £15m.

In the absence of Armstrong, Rovers have managed to reach new heights in the second-tier as they are currently fighting for a top-six in this particular division.

Having been handed a start in Blackburn’s 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers last weekend, Dolan will be keen to help his side secure a positive result in their showdown with Fulham on Saturday.

A victory for Rovers will send out a real signal of intent to the rest of the Championship as the Cottagers currently lead the way in this division.

Asked on the latest episode of the Sky Sports EFL Podcast to name the best player that he has played with in his career, Dolan said: “Now stepping up to the first team, the whole team is absolutely quality but I’d like to say Adam Armstrong.

“He’s an absolute player.”

When you consider just how impressive Armstrong was for Blackburn last season, it is hardly a surprise that Dolan has named him as the best player he has featured alongside.

The forward has yet to replicate this form for Southampton during the current term as he has only managed to provide five direct goal contributions in 19 Premier League appearances.
