'Absolute disgrace' - Manchester United fans fume as club accepts Everton's James Garner bid

Manchester United fans have shown their anger over the club's decision to accept a £15million bid from Everton for James Garner this transfer window.

The MEN broke the news that United had decided to accept the Toffees' bid ahead of deadline day after Erik ten Hag decided the 21-year-old was not part of his first-team plans for this season.

The academy graduate returned to Old Trafford this summer after his second spell on loan at Nottingham Forest came to an end. Garner impressed during his time at the City Ground as he helped Forest secure promotion to the Premier League, making 41 Championship appearances during the successful campaign.

Many felt as though Garner had earnt the right to be handed a chance at Old Trafford this season, with his performances at Forest playing a huge part in their promotion push.

Despite Ten Hag's initial desperation to bolster his midfield ranks, with the arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, Garner has been deemed surplus to requirements. Although there was some initial optimism that the midfielder would feature for the club this season after being selected for the Reds' pre-season tour, an injury training in the first session meant that the former Forest loanee only played for 23 minutes while in Thailand and Australia.

The news of United's decision to accept Everton's bid has not gone down well with fans, who believe the player still has a future at the club.
