Aaron Rodgers: Green Bay Packers QB opens up on relationship with Jordan Love
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has spoken about the relationship he has with backup quarterback Jordan Love.
One of the biggest headlines that came out of the NFL Draft back in 2020 was the selection of Utah State quarterback Jordan Love by the Green Bay Packers with the 26th pick in the first round.
The Packers had just come off a season in which they had just lost the NFC Championship game to the San Francisco 49ers, a game in which they gave up 285 yards rushing, leading many to think they would add to the team’s defence to help take the Packers over the top.
Instead, rather than focusing on the present, they took Love, presumably so that he could be developed as the future quarterback of the franchise for when Aaron Rodgers retires, in an act similar to when the Packers took Rodgers in the first round of the 2005 Draft and made him sit behind Brett Favre before taking over.
The only problem with that, is that Rodgers has shown no signs of slowing down just yet, winning league MVP in 2020 and 2021 and having just signed a contract extension this offseason, Love might be waiting a little bit longer for his spot on the team, that is if he ends up getting it at all.
When the pick was initially made, Rodgers was reportedly far from pleased with the decision, as pointed out above, they had the option to address the team’s needs in the present, but instead the team focused on the future, a future that they believed he might not be a part of.
As a result, there is every chance that there might be some animosity behind the scenes between the two if Rodgers felt that him being drafted wasn’t helping the team, but according to the man himself, that is far from the case.
