Aaron Ramsey and all the Welshmen who have played for Celtic and Rangers

Aaron Ramsey secured a shock loan move from Juventus to Rangers on transfer deadline day and becomes one of a select few Welshmen to have played for one of the two Glasgow giants.

The legendary Wales midfielder was expected to leave Juve after a mixed spell in Serie A, but few expected the former Arsenal and Cardiff City man to pitch up on the blue half of Glasgow.

The playmaker has signed just in time for tomorrow (Wednesday) night's top of the league derby clash at Celtic Park, although he's not expected to play.

Here we take a look at the other Wales internationals who have played for one of Scotland's big two in the modern era.

Currently playing for Charlton Athletic, Adam Matthews left Cardiff City for Celtic in 2011 and played over 100 times for the club during a four stay in Glasgow. The Swansea-born full back was part of the Hoops side that famously beat Barcelona in 2012.

After struggling with injuries Matthews left Glasgow to join Sunderland in 2015 and went on to play for Bristol City before arriving at Charlton in 2019. Matthews has won 14 caps for Wales.

Big John Hartson is still regarded as a legend by fans of Celtic and Wales alike. The big striker joined the Bhoys in 2001 and scored 88 goals in 146 games in the Hoops.

The Swansea born man had a good career with the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Coventry City but it was in Glasgow where he played arguably his best football, forming a fruitful strike partnership with both Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton.

Hartson still lives in Scotland and is a regular at Celtic matches in his role as a TV pundit.
