Aaron Hill follows Ken Doherty into January's German Masters
Aaron Hill has secured a place at next month's German Masters with a comeback 5-3 victory over Muhammad Asif.
Hill was 2-0 down in his qualifier at Ponds Forge in Sheffield but he hit the high break of the match, a 131, to draw level at two frames each. Asif won the next but Hill took the following three, including a break of 63 to see out the match.
The Corkman will face Yuan Sijun in the first round in Berlin. Yuan defeated fellow Chinese player, and 11th seed, Ding Junhui 5-2 this afternoon, despite being docked a frame for arriving back late from the mid-session interval.
Yesterday Ken Doherty eased to a 5-0 win over Jenson Kendrick with the Dubliner posting to Instagram that his opponent was "very poorly with a bad dose of flu."
The 54-year-old will play Ronnie O'Sullivan or Julien Leclercq at the Tempodrom.
