A48 Cowbridge Road in Cardiff reopens after late night crash

A major road in Cardiff has reopened after a crash in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, March 26).

In an alert on social media at 12.27am, South Wales Police said that part of the A48 Cowbridge Road West would be shut for the "foreseeable future" due to a road traffic collision.

Emergency services were at the scene of the collision, with the road closed between Amroth Road and Caerau Lane.

Drivers were advised to seek alternative routes and allow extra time for the journey. South Wales Police Cardiff said on Twitter: "Following a road traffic collision Cowbridge Road West, Cardiff is closed between Amroth Road & Caerau Lane for the foreseeable future."

However, in an update at 2.18am, police said: "With regards to previous road closure on Cowbridge road West, Cardiff. The road is now re-opened."
