A465 Heads of the Valleys road closed in both directions at Merthyr Tydfil after man suffers life changing injuries

A 50-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life changing injuries after a crash on the A465

The incident has happened on the Heads of the Valleys road at Merthry Tydfil and is believed to have occurred between Grawen Lane and Rocky Road.

South Wales Police have issued a statement that the road is likely to be closed for some time.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "South Wales Police was called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A465, Merthyr Tydfil at around 7.20pm.

"The collision involved one vehicle, a 50-year-old man has been conveyed to hospital to be treated for life changing injuries.

"The road remains closed."

The weather is currently challenging in the area with a yellow weather warning for wind covering much of Wales.
