A4119 closed in both directions between Coed Ely-Tonyrefail roundabouts due to serious collision

South Wales Police have advised that a stretch of the A4119 between the Coed Ely and Tonyrefail roundabouts has been closed in both directions due to a serious road traffic collision.

Emergency services are responding to this ongoing incident on the outskirts of Cardiff and motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

The collision was first reported at 3.39am but traffic police attending have warned that the area will be sealed off until later this morning.

South Wales Police tweeted: "#ROADCLOSURE | We are at the scene of a serious collision between the Coed Ely roundabout and the #Tonyrefail roundabout on the A4119.The road is currently closed in both directions. It is expected to remain closed for some time.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
