A40 closed this morning after crash in early hours at St Clears - latest updates

One of the main roads into Pembrokeshire is closed this morning after a crash in Carmarthenshire in the early hours. The A40 westbound is closed from St Clears in to Whitland .

The closure runs from St Clears to the Roadhouse roundabout in Whitland. Local diversions have been put in place.

Traffic Wales says on its website that the crash was first logged at 2.20am and the closure is currently expected to be in place until 8.20am. Google Maps showed there was heavy, slow moving traffic around the Roadhouse roundabout at around 2.45am.

A tweet from Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police at 2.23am read: "ROAD CLOSED | The A40 St Clears to the Roadhouse roundabout (Whitland) is currently closed due to a collision. Diversions are being set up and we will update you once the road re-opens. Thank you."
