“A statement of intent” – Nottingham Forest eyeing move for 20-goal contribution EFL star: The verdict

The Reds are looking to bring the Wolves forward to the City Ground this summer, following his excellent loan stint with Championship side Sheffield United.

Here we ask our FLW writers their verdict on whether the 22-year old would be a good addition to Steve Cooper’s side…

Morgan Gibbs White is a terrific talent and has been outstanding for Sheffield United this season.

He has a relationship with Steve Cooper and thrived under him at Swansea City so reuniting them at the City Ground could help him step his game up another level.

The problem is that Gibbs White is an unknown quantity at Premier League level and at £20 million, isn’t going to come cheap.

That’s not to say Forest shouldn’t sign him but rather that they need to ensure they’re bringing enough top flight experience as well.

Without doing that things could get ugly for them next season.

This would be a statement of intent from Nottingham Forest if they were to sign Gibbs-White.

The 22-year-old looked out of place in the Championship all season long and is ready for an integral role for a Premier League club next season.

With Philip Zinckernagel heading back to Watford, Gibbs-White is the ideal replacement, and he has unfinished business under Steve Cooper having shown a lot of promise under the Welshman in a brief loan spell at Swansea City.

The 22-year-old is a very versatile forward, and therefore if Cooper wants to move away from the 3-4-1-2 formation, to be stronger defensively in the top-flight, Gibbs-White could adapt to that.

Forest’s chances of staying up in the Premier League next season would significantly increase for the addition of Morgan Gibbs-White.

This does feel as though it could be a very good signing for Forest if they can get it
