'A disgrace' - Erik ten Hag hits back at critics following Manchester United FA Cup semi-final collapse

Erik ten Hag has described the reaction to Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final progression as "embarrassing" and "a disgrace".
United squandered a 3-0 lead against Championship side Coventry City and were taken to a penalty shootout which they won 4-2.

The United supporters left swiftly after Rasmus Hojlund's winning spotkick whereas Coventry fans remained in their droves to express their appreciation.

United fans booed at the final whistle of the 90 minutes to express their anger at the team's collapse but Ten Hag said it was a "huge achievement" to have reached successive FA Cup finals at his post-match press conference.

At his pre-match press conference for the Sheffield United game, Ten Hag said, "Good morning," when he entered the press conference room, correcting some who said, "Good afternoon."

"Sharp. I notice not everyone is sharp here," Ten Hag opined. When he was asked who is not sharp, he replied: "Oh, the majority I would say."

The first question from the BBC centred on whether the reaction to United's result was fair and Ten Hag replied: "No. Absolutely not.

"You made enough and one the question: 'is it embarrassing?' No, the reaction from you was embarrassing. It is the comments.

"Top football is about results, we made it to a final and we deserved it not only by this game but also the other games. We lost control for 20 minutes, we also had bad luck, 3-2, 3-3. We were very lucky in the end, clear. Penalties was very good and we made it to the final.
