£9.9m star 'in best form of Newcastle career' under Eddie Howe

Jonjo Shelvey is playing his best football since he moved to Newcastle, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 30-year-old arrived on Tyneside in 2016, and is finally starting to deliver on a consistent basis for the Magpies.

Shelvey’s campaign did not get off to the ideal start as he missed six of Newcastle’s opening seven league matches with a calf injury.

However, over the past few months, he has cemented his place in the side’s starting line-up, and has been handed the captain’s armband for Newcastle’s last two fixtures against West Ham and Brentford.

He has also managed to get on the scoresheet a couple of times, scoring against his former club Liverpool in December, before netting the winning goal at Leeds the following month.

The 6 foot 1 ace has started each of Newcastle’s last seven league games, and the team have not lost any of these matches, picking up 15 points in the process.

“It’s probably fair to say, Jonjo Shelvey’s been in the best form of his Newcastle career in recent weeks. Probably since the arrival of Eddie Howe, he’s really got the best out of him,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“He’s been key in Newcastle’s recent unbeaten run where they’ve moved out of the bottom three, and he’s added a few goals to his game as well.”

It appears they will.
