7'4" Zach Edey Tried To Pick A Fight With 6'2" Tre Holloman Because That Would Be A Fair Match

Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey tried to start a fight with an opponent who didn’t even come up to his shoulder.

Halfway through the second half of their Big 10 tournament quarterfinal matchup against the Michigan State Spartans, Fletcher Loyer of Purdue got tripped by Spartans guard Tre Holloman. The play was incredibly accidental, and Holloman didn’t have malicious intent with the foul.

Nonetheless, Edey felt a need to get up in Holloman’s business after the play. When he went over to help Loyer off the ground, the towering center tried to start a conflict with the minute point guard from Michigan State.

Edey, who stands at 7’4" and is the third-tallest player in the nation, walked over and shoved the 6’2" Holloman. The point guard retaliated, squared up to the behemoth, and looked ready to hold his own in a fight.

The still shot of the incident was absolutely hilarious.

Frankly, I’m siding with Holloman on this one. He didn’t trip Loyer on purpose and didn't do anything dirty.

But in a move that reeks of a bully mentality, Edey chooses to confront the smallest guy on the court, all while mockingly smiling at him. You can just hear him thinking "What are you going to do about it, pipsqueak?" Tell me you’re a fake tough guy without telling me you’re a fake tough guy.

Fans who saw this incident unfold were quick to support Holloman for not backing down to the giant.

I still think a 7'4", 300-pound individual would easily beat a 6'2", 180 opponent in a real fight. But David beat Goliath once, right?

Unfortunately, Holloman couldn’t do much to stop Edey and Purdue from advancing to the Big 10 semifinals after a 67-62 win.
