67-cap Spurs star tipped to run down deal and 'have pick of any club'

Tottenham Hotspur legend Harry Kane could run down the remainder of his contract so that he has the luxury of picking his next destination, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Kane has come through the north London club’s ranks and established himself as one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers, moving up to sixth in the all-time goalscoring charts earlier this week, but he has yet to get his hands on any silverware despite his exploits in the final third of the pitch.

Kane grabbed the 175th and 176th Premier League goals of his career as Spurs put strugglers Everton to the sword on Monday, recording a 5-0 win.

That result allowed Tottenham to close the gap on the Premier League’s top four, with them now sitting just three points adrift of arch-rivals Arsenal.

Former Spurs frontman Teddy Sheringham claimed on Sky Sports, via Football.London, that Kane should look to secure a move away if he wants to challenge for silverware.

However, according to the Express, Kane has told his team-mates he will remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if his current employers succeed in their pursuit of Champions League football and head coach Antonio Conte does not quit.

The report suggests Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are leading contenders for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Jones has not ruled out the possibility of Kane remaining with Tottenham until the end of his contract before seeking a new challenge.
