4s and 5s in the player ratings as Sunderland produce another dire performance against Doncaster
Managerless Sunderland crashed to a damaging home defeat at the hands of bottom-of-the-table Doncaster Rovers.
The Black Cats, who sacked head coach Lee Johnson last weekend following a 6-0 reverse at Bolton, found themselves 2-0 down at half-time with Reo Griffiths and Tommy Rowe scoring the goals for Rovers.
And while Corry Evans pulled a goal back at the death, this was a defeat that saw Sunderland slip further off the promotion pace and drop to fourth in the table.
Here's how James Hunter rated the Sunderland players.
Made a couple of saves but might have done better for the first goal
Played on the right of a back three but this was not one of his better games
Another very disappointing showing, following on from last week at Bolton
Again, another bad day following on from Bolton
Pushed on from right wingback but to no great effect
Very poor in the first half, better in the second and he did score his first goal for the club late on
Brought one good save out of the keeper but was too easily brushed aside in midfield, and was eventually take off
Played left wingback and has to take collective responsibility
Not at his best, but he was still one of Sunderland's better players on the day
Hit the post in the second half but didn't do much else
Had what looked like a goal disallowed because the officials couldn't tell whether it had crossed the line
For Winchester 61mins. Couldn't produce the spark Sunderland were looking for
For Embleton 73mins. Raised a cheer when he came on, albeit he didn't look like scoring
For Neil 73mins. A tough game to come into, but there were some promising signs from him
Patterson, Dajaku, Hume, Roberts
