26-year-old reaches clear decision regarding his future amid Bolton Wanderers speculation

Jack Iredale is set to leave Cambridge United this summer after turning down a new contract with the League One side.

The left-back was recently linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

According to a report from journalist Alan Nixon last month, the Trotters are believed to be keen on securing the services of Iredale.

The 26-year-old is also understood to be attracting interest from Wigan Athletic and Preston North End who are both set to participate in the Championship next season.

As confirmed by Cambridge’s official website, the 26-year-old is set to become a free-agent in June when his current deal expires.

Since joining the U’s in 2020, Iredale has managed to make 89 appearances for the club in all competitions.

After helping Cambridge achieve promotion to the third-tier last year, the defender produced some promising performances at this level in the 2021/22 campaign.

Iredale featured on 35 occasions for the U’s as they managed to seal a respectable 14th place finish in the League One standings.

The Trotters are set to be short of options at left-back after deciding to release Liam Gordon yesterday.

Gordon is one of eight Bolton players who are set to move on to pastures new when their respective contracts expire.
