£22.5m Everton star on 'his last chance' at Goodison Park

Dele Alli has one final chance to prove himself at Everton, but must start performing quickly, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The £22.5m-rated midfielder made the January switch from Tottenham but is still waiting to make his first start for the Toffees.

When Alli made the permanent switch from Spurs, he would have been hoping to hit the ground running and quickly rediscover his best form.

He had started just two Premier League games in his final two months at Tottenham and was demoted to nothing more than a bit part player during his final days under Antonio Conte.

The 37-cap England international went straight into the squad for Everton’s first game after the transfer window closed and would play the final 65 minutes in the defeat at Newcastle, having replaced Demarai Gray early in the first half.

But Alli hasn’t been able to earn a starting place in Frank Lampard’s side, despite the Toffees losing four of the five games in which he’s featured in.

Furthermore, having played against Morecambe in the third round, Alli is cup tied and has therefore been forced to sit out Everton’s FA Cup games with Brentford and Boreham Wood. As a result, just more than one month into his career, he has failed to score or assist in his five substitute outings.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think this is his last chance and he needs to start showing up. Everton are in a precarious position, and they can’t be hanging around for him to get used to the club, easing his way in ahead of next season. They need contributions from him now really.”
