2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Chartered aircraft to convey supporters, other stakeholders to Kigali

• Rwanda unveils strong squad for Super Eagles
The Federal Government will provide a chartered flight that will convey Super Eagles’ supporters and other stakeholders in Nigerian football to Kigali, where Nigeria will meet Rwanda in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on March 21.

A source at the National Sports Commission (NSC) told The Guardian that the Commission in conjunction with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) plans to take 100 members of the unified Supporters Club and 50 other stakeholders to the Rwandan capital for the game, which the Super Eagles must win to rekindle their fight for a ticket to the World Cup. The Mundial will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.

Nigeria currently sits in fifth place with three points in the six-team Group C, which is led by Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic with seven points each after four games. Lesotho is fourth with five points, while Zimbabwe is sixth with two points.

Meanwhile, Rwanda has unveiled a formidable squad for this weekend’s World Cup qualifiers against the Super Eagles.

The country’s head coach, Adel Amrouche, an Algerian, since taking charge, assessed several players through local warm-up matches before finalising his selection.

Amrouche’s squad consists of four goalkeepers, eight defenders, nine midfielders, and seven forwards.

The Amavubi, currently leading Group C with seven points, will face the Super Eagles on Friday, March 21. They will then host Lesotho on Tuesday.
