2 Bradford City players who face an uncertain few weeks ahead

Bradford City are building towards a crucial 2022/23 season in pushing for promotion from League Two.

There were certainly some positive signs for the Bantams in the final third of the 2021/22 campaign under Mark Hughes.

Heading into their fourth season since relegation from the third tier, Bradford will likely flex their muscle in the transfer market, to give Hughes the tools he needs to hit his targets in 2022/23.

The four teams coming down from League One, as is usually the case, will be preparing for major squad rebuilds and in terms of preparation, that should give the Bantams and some other ambitious fourth tier clubs, an advantage heading towards pre-season.

Paudie O’Connor

The general consensus seems to be that Paudie O’Connor has done enough in his time at Bradford, to demonstrate that he is capable of playing in the third tier at this stage of his career.

The Irishman has been a standout performer in a tough few seasons for the Bantams and will take some replacing if he does opt to leave the club.

The 24-year-old is out of contract this summer, he has been offered an extension, but it could be tough to deter him from a move up the pyramid.

There is a chance he signs a new deal with Hughes selling him a certain promotion push next season, but with the simplicity of moving away on a free, as it stands, it looks more likely he will leave the club.

Elliot Watt

Elliot Watt is quite an intriguing case.

The 22-year-old evidently has a ceiling comfortably above League Two level, but he has struggled to demonstrate that as regularly as he would have hoped.

Bradford has been a very sensible touchpoint for Watt to make the step up to
