150 and counting Championship players released ahead of Nottingham Forest play-off final

Retained lists are starting to be announced across the Championship to open a floodgate of free agents into the summer transfer market.

Nottingham Forest still have one game to be played as they take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final on Sunday (May 24), knowing that the Reds will be in the Premier League for the first time in more than 20 years if they are victorious at Wembley Stadium.

That means that Steve Cooper's recruitment team at the City Ground will have to prepare for two different scenarios: promotion to the Premier League, as well as another season in England's second tier.

Some of the division's star performers are looking for a new club in the next few weeks, including Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell, who is likely to attract Premier League interest. West Bromwich Albion have not been able to agree a new deal with keeper Sam Johnstone while Andy Carroll and Stoke City loanee Romaine Sawyers are also departing the Hawthorns.

Bournemouth are saying goodbye to veteran centre-back Gary Cahill, Hull have released Tom Huddlestone and Tom Eaves, Birmingham are letting Kristian Pedersen and Jeremie Bela go, Callum O'Dowda is leaving Bristol City, fans' favourite Jodi Jones will exit Coventry after injury problems.

Sol Bamba and Neil Taylor are leaving Middlesbrough, Alex Pearce is being released by MIllwall, Charlie Austin by QPR, Tom Barkhuizen, Scott Sinclair and Izzy Brown by Preston, David McGoldrick, Lys Mousset and Luke Freeman by Sheffield United and Ben Hamer, Korey Smith and Yan Dhanda by Swansea.

Blackpool have released eight players and extended the contracts for players including Josh Bowler and former Stoke youth Richard Keogh.
