15 all out! Big Bash outfit Sydney Thunder crash to lowest-ever T20 total

The Sydney Thunder suffered an embarrassing 124-run defeat to the Adelaide Strikers in a Big Bash League encounter in Sydney on Friday.

Full scorecard

Chasing 140 for victory in 20 overs, the Sydney Thunder were bowled out for a meagre 15 runs in 5.5 overs.

According to cricket specialist website, ESPNcricinfo, it's the lowest-ever score in a professional T20 match.

The previous record low was when Turkey made 21 against Czech Republic in 2019.

Fast bowler Henry Thornton took 5 for 3 in 2.5 overs, while fellow quick Wes Agar claimed 4 for 6 in 2 overs. Off-break bowler Matthew Short also took 1 for 5 in his solitary over.

Earlier, Australian international Chris Lynn top-scored for the Adelaide Strikers with 36 from 27 balls.

Thornton was named Player of the Match.

"I honestly cannot believe what just happened," Thornton told Australia broadcaster Channel Seven.

"I think everyone here probably doesn't know what is going on either. It was amazing.

"We thought they bowled really, really well considering what the wicket was doing.

"And we just thought if we hung in there long enough we'd create chances. That's unbelievable."

The previous lowest BBL score was 57 by Melbourne Renegades in 2015.
