11 players you probably completely forgot played for Man Utd in the 21st century

It’s hard keeping track of every single player to represent a football club over the course of many years.

Even the most avid fan will tend to forget a fair few names and that certainly applies to the very biggest teams on the planet as well.

Manchester United are a prime example of that. In the 21st century alone, a high number of footballers have donned the famous red shirt in a professional setting a few times before jetting off elsewhere.

So, we’ve decided to scour through the archives and found 11 players to have represented the Red Devils since the turn of the millenium that most people will have completely forgotten about.

To make things a little tougher for ourselves, those who played for United’s youth sides only were not considered for selection. Unlucky, Danny Drinkwater…

Zaha is now one of the Premier League’s most-feared attackers at Crystal Palace, but his dismal two-year spell at United – which also included three loan moves, two of them to Palace – is rarely talked about these days. Zaha made just four senior appearances at Old Trafford, failing to score or assist a goal.

A bona fide Barcelona legend that couldn’t get a game at United – well, apart from two. Valdes’ 12 month stay with the Red Devils was anything but memorable and he joined Middlesbrough in 2016, before retiring from the sport a year later.

That’s right, the man who infamously knocked Wayne Rooney out in his kitchen actually played for the same team. Bardsley was on United’s books for five years between 2003 and 2008, but was restricted to just 18 appearances in that time, so he joined Sunderland on a permanent basis. Bardsley is still in the Premier League with Burnley.
