100 players Manchester United have been linked with since January

Manchester United want to make five signings this summer transfer window and have identified their top targets for the proposed and much-needed rebuild under Erik ten Hag.

Frenkie de Jong remains a priority and talks with Barcelona are ongoing. De Jong is expected to cost United around £75million after the club were unable to strengthen that central midfield position 12 months ago.

His arrival might be edging closer, but the Netherlands international will not be alone. United also want to snap-up Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony, plus sought-after free agent Christian Eriksen.

Ten Hag will also set his sights on a back-up goalkeeper and the rumour mill continues to throw up countless other names and potential targets. Of course, some of those players might be genuine — but the majority not — and United have, staggeringly, been linked to 100 players since the January transfer window closed.

Here is a breakdown of those names as highlighted by United-dedicated Twitter account @Muppetiers.

Armel Bella-Kotchap (Bochum to Southampton)

Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham)

Yannick Carrasco (Atletico Madrid)

Sasa Kalajdzic (Stuttgart)

Noussair Mazraoui (Ajax to Bayern Munich)

Robby McCrorie (Rangers)

Dan-Axel Zagadou (Borussia Dortmund)
