The dramatic climax seemed unlikely with 10 overs gone as the tourists scored 83 without loss after Zimbabwe posted 159-8 in 20 overs at Harare Sports Club.
Opening batter Tadiwanashe Marumani makes his return to the national side after Zimbabwe announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home starting from June 11 onwards. Marumani last played in Scotland in September 2021. He did not feature in the squads for Zimbabwe's series against Namibia earlier this year and missed out on Afghanistan ODIs as well.

Atoning for scoring only five runs when the tourists won the first match by 60 runs last Saturday, Zadran faced 142 deliveries and struck 16 fours at Harare Sports Club. He was well supported by Rahmat Shah -- the 94-run star of the first victory -- who contributed 88 and was an able partner to Zadran in a second-wicket stand that produced 195 runs. Afghanistan made 229-2 to win with 33 balls remaining.

Securing 10 points from the win at Harare Sports Club lifted the tourists above India and Australia in the standings and left them trailing only leaders Bangladesh and second-placed England. The top eight finishers in the Super League gain direct qualification to the 2023 World Cup in India.
