Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat added another bronze medal to his country's tally as he defeated Darian Toi Cruz from Puerto Rico 13-5 in the 57kg wrestling event on Thursday. Aman registered two impressive victories before losing to top-seed Rei Higuchi of Japan in the semifinal bout. Aman started his campaign with a win over Vladimir Egorov before producing a dominant show against former world champion Zelimkhan Abakarov of Albania in the quarterfinals. Aman's performance in the quarterfinal bout earned him a lot of praise from both fans and experts as he earned eight straight points to register a 12-0 victory by virtue of technical superiority
Vinesh Phogat's hearing in Paris at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ended. The star Indian wrestler had appealed to the CAS after she was disqualified from the 50kg wrestling final at the Paris Olympics for being 100 gram overweight. Earlier, Vinesh was assured of a silver medal after entering the final of 5okg with three convincing wins but the disqualification saw her finish outside the medal bracket. Though Vinesh was within the permissible weight limit on the first day of the competition, on the second day she was found to overweight and was excluded from the wrestling final.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach opened up on Indian grappler Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the final of women's 50 kg wrestling at the Paris Olympics and said that they will "follow the Court of Arbitration for Sport's (CAS) decision". Vinesh was set to compete against the United States of America's Sarah Ann Hildebrandt for the gold medal but was disqualified on Wednesday for breaching the weight limit by just 100 grams. After her disqualification, Phogat requested the CAS to award her the silver medal.

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has thrown his weight behind wrestler Vinesh Phogat, following her disqualification from the Women's 50kg event at the Paris Olympics 2024. Vinesh was disqualified on the morning of his gold medal bout for being 100 grams overweight, shattering the 29-year-old's hopes of winning an Olympic medal. After her disqualification, Vinesh has made an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to be awarded the silver medal. While the appeal was accepted, the CAS said that its one-member Ad-hoc panel will give a verdict on the same before the end of the Paris Olympics.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat's appeal to be awarded the silver medal in the women's wrestling 50kg competition in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which has issued its first official statement. Vinesh, who will be represented by renowned senior counsels Harish Salve and Vidushpat Singhania, filed a plea before the CAS ad hoc division at 2:00 PM on Friday. The CAS has confirmed that there was no time to annul her disqualification from the Olympic Games, due to the paucity of time.
