Pakistan javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem says he will miss competing against India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra at the Commonwealth Games here as they are part of 'one' family. Neeraj won a historic silver at the World Championships last month with a throw of 88.13m as Arshad finished fifth after becoming the first Pakistani to qualify for the finals. The Indian pulled out of the CWG due to a groin strain while Arshad, who continues to nurse an elbow injury, is expected to be on the podium with Grenada's Anderson Peters, the favourite for gold. Peters won the gold at recent Worlds. "Neeraj bhai is my brother. I miss him here. May God give him the best of health and I get to compete with him soon," Arshad told PTI.

Chanu, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics last year, won gold in the women's 49kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Responding to a tweet saying "it's time for Thor to give up his hammer" with regards to Mirabai, the Hollywood megastar came up with a "worthy" response. "She is worthy! India's para powerlifter Sudhir scripted a Commonwealth Games record to win a gold medal in the men's heavyweight final. After lifting 208 kg in his first attempt, Sudhir went on to take the lead with a 212 kg in his second attempt. Despite failing to attempt 217 kg in his third and final attempt, Sudhir managed to win the gold medal, and also scripted a Games record with his total points of 134.5. This was India's seventh gold at the ongoing Commonwealth Games. People from all walks of life took to Twitter and praised the Sudhir on winning the gold medal.
