Mooen Ali produced a brilliant delivery to dismiss Cameron Green on Day 2 of the first Ashes Test encounter between England and Australia in Edgbaston on Saturday. Green was looking in dangerous form and it took a special delivery from the veteran spinner to send him packing for 38. The ball pitched quite a bit outside leg stump but turned back inside to complete beat Green's defenses and ultimately crash into his stumps. The batter was left completely surprised by the turn as the stadium erupted in cheer. Even former India spinner Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to praise the unplayable delivery.

Australia's hopes of getting close to England's target were dashed in the 11th of their innings as Stuart Broad struck twice in as many deliveries to send the Edgbaston crowd into raptures. On the first delivery of the over, Broad managed to get an inside edge off David Warner, who ended up playing it back onto his stumps. This was the 15th time that Broad has dismissed Warner in Test cricket. On the very next delivery, Broad's outswinger got a thin edge of Marnus Labuschagne's bat, before Jonny Bairstow did the rest behind the stumps.

Joe Root played the role of anchor for England on the opening day of the first Ashes Test that kicked off at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Friday. Host skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and oped to bat first. England lost wickets at regular intervals but a solid partnership between Root and Jonny Bairstow for the sixth wicket put the side in control against Australia. The surface that has been offered for the game is a batting paradise and Root barely left any opportunity to score on the opening day.
