Holger Rune Comes Back From Brink To Reach Japan Open Semifinals

Denmark's Holger Rune fought back from a match point down to reach the Japan Open semi-finals after beating Kei Nishikori 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 on Sunday. Rune, the number six seed, came back from the brink to win four straight games and end the Japanese veteran's challenge in front of a lively crowd in Tokyo. "It was about getting that first serve, and if I could save that match point I knew that I could put on pressure," said Rune, who will play either defending champion Ben Shelton or France's Arthur Fils in the semi-finals. "The momentum shifted a little bit. I lifted myself up, I was more positive." Nishikori, 34, has been plagued by injuries and he returned to Grand Slam competition at the French Open in May after an absence of almost three years.

Carlos Alcaraz Wins In 56 Minutes As 'China's Nadal' Extends Fairytale

Carlos Alcaraz barrelled into the China Open quarter-finals on Sunday in just 56 minutes as 595th-ranked Zhang Shuai extended her historic run. Rain in Beijing played havoc with the schedule but four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz made rapid progress under the roof of the Diamond Court with a 6-1, 6-2 demolition of Tallon Griekspoor. The 39th-ranked Dutchman looked shellshocked. "I just want to keep going, to keep getting more and more wins," said Alcaraz after racking up his 200th tour-level victory. Alcaraz, the second seed behind Jannik Sinner, faces seventh-seeded Karen Khachanov next after an ominous warning of intent from the 21-year-old Spaniard.

Travis Hunter's Heisman moment highlights Colorado's impressive win over UCF

It was still relatively early in Saturday's game when, during a stoppage of play, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders ran onto the field to celebrate with his offensive linemen. Sanders bounced across the rain-soaked grass at FBC Mortgage Stadium and jumped into the chest of left tackle Jordan Seaton, a five-star freshman and the jewel of the Buffaloes' most recent recruiting class. They celebrated together because an unsightly offensive line that has been the primary culprit in Colorado's undoing the last two seasons was finally mauling an opponent in the trenches. And the Buffaloes could finally run the football because of it.
