Jonas Vingegaard wraps up Criterium de Dauphine title as Tour de France reunion with Tadej Pogacar looms
Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) wrapped up the overall title at the Criterium de Dauphine after another virtuoso climbing display on the final stage. The Dane shrugged off attacks from Britain’s Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) on Stage 8 before pulling away from his closest GC challenger on the sharp final climb to the Bastille Fortress. Ad Lone breakaway survivor Giulio Ciccone (Trek-Segafredo) held off Vingegaard on the double-digit gradients to take the stage victory by 22 seconds.
