India vs West Indies, 3rd T20I Preview: Hosts Look To Test Bench Strength

The series in their bag, India will have the liberty to experiment in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. With Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant given a 10-day break, the home team is set to finally include the gifted Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the playing XI. Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, India secured their third successive series win with an eight-run win over the West Indies in the second T20I on Friday. With the T20 World Cup scheduled in less than eight months time in Australia, Rohit would look to try out new options, beginning with finding a reserve opener.

No excuses for big Test defeat against New Zealand, says South Africa captain Dean Elgar

South Africa arrived in New Zealand on a high note after a hard-fought home series win over India, but a punishing defeat in their first Test against New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday served as a sobering reality check. Captain Dean Elgar refused to make excuses, blaming neither losing the toss, the 10-day quarantine on arrival in New Zealand, nor the matter of head coach Mark Boucher facing a May disciplinary hearing over charges of racism. "Being a touring party, we are always going to be up against home conditions and rightly so," Elgar said of having to bat first on a Hagley Oval pitch that had a nice covering of grass and offered plenty of assistance to the always relentless Blackcaps' pace attack. "If the shoe was on the other foot, we would like to have utilised it to our strength."

New Zealand crush South Africa to win first Test inside three days

New Zealand claimed a rare victory over South Africa on Saturday, wrapping up the first Test by a comprehensive innings and 276 runs in just seven sessions in Christchurch. It is only the fifth time in 46 Tests since 1932 that New Zealand have beaten South Africa with their last victory coming in 2004. "It's a great day," an elated captain Tom Latham said. South Africa, who were 387 behind on the first innings, resumed the day at 34 for three and showed little appetite to chase down the total, losing their final seven wickets before lunch to be all out for 111. Latham said winning the toss and putting South Africa in to bat was critical for New Zealand's success.
