Max Verstappen will start first on the grid for Saturday’s sprint race after taking pole position for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in a stop-start qualifying session.
IMOLA, Italy : Formula One world champion Max Verstappen put Red Bull on pole position in a wet and crash-interrupted Emilia Romagna Grand Prix qualifying on Friday to secure top slot for the first sprint of the season.
Simone Manuel, Ryan Lochte, Allison Schmitt and Nathan Adrian, who own a combined 35 Olympic medals and haven’t competed since the Tokyo Games, have not yet entered next week’s world swimming championships trials.
Max Verstappen eventually came out on top after a red flag-filled, wet/dry qualifying on Friday evening at Imola ahead of the first Sprint of the season on Saturday.
Max Verstappen topped the timing sheets in Qualifying for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, and will be on pole for Saturday’s Sprint race in Imola. The Sprint will make its first appearance of 2022, in what is the fourth race of the season, and Red Bull driver Verstappen will have the best chance to get the maximum eight points on offer and pole for Sunday’s feature event.
