Atalanta set up an Italian Cup semi-final with Fiorentina after winning 2-1 at AC Milan on Wednesday, while Lazio won 1-0 in a fiery derby with Roma which finished with three red cards. Teun Koopmeiners struck either side of half-time of an entertaining quarter-final to continue Atalanta's bid for a first major trophy since 1963, when they last won the competition. "We have have done so much in recent years," said Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini. "We might not have any silverware... but we have reached the Italian Cup final in the past and we want to go all the way."
Adrien Rabiot scored to hand Juventus a 1-0 victory over Roma on Saturday that saw the Turin club move within two points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Rabiot struck in the 47th minute, while Federico Chiesa's late goal that would have doubled the tally, was ruled out for offside. The victory leaves Juve on 43 points, just two behind Inter, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Genoa on Friday. AC Milan consolidated their grip on third spot in Serie A on Saturday with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sassuolo at the San Siro.
Jose Mourinho will hope his "bunch of smashing lads" from AS Roma build on their impressive 2-0 win over defending Serie A champions Napoli last weekend and dent Juventus's title-chasing ambitions on Saturday. Juventus could be seven points adrift of leaders Inter Milan come Saturday if Simone Inzaghi's side beat Genoa for their sixth successive victory on Friday. A win for Roma would keep them firmly in the hunt for a Champions League place next season, they are presently sixth just three points off fourth-placed Bologna.
Romelu Lukaku scored but was sent off in the closing minutes as Roma finished with nine men in a 1-1 draw at home to Fiorentina on Sunday in Serie A. Paulo Dybala picked out Lukaku with a clever cross as the Belgium striker headed Roma in front in the fifth minute at the Stadio Olimpico. Defender Lucas Martinez Quarta glanced in from Christian Kouame's curling delivery to equalise for Fiorentina midway through the second half, just after Nicola Zalewski was dismissed for a second yellow card.
Kylian Mbappe inspired 10-man Paris St Germain to a 2-0 victory over Le Havre to send them four points clear of Nice at the top of Ligue 1.
