IPL 2022, LSG vs KKR: Spotlight on tactical battle as in-form Lucknow Super Giants take on Kolkata Knight Riders

Contrasting fortunes for KL Rahul, Shreyas IyerThey are two of the most prolific batters for Team India, both possessing attractive shots in their armoury. Both make sure the spectators get their money's worth while they bat. One a languid opening batsman, while the other a clever middle-order bat who can get the better of the best of bowlers. The other interesting facet of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer is their leadership abilities. While Rahul led Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in prior IPLs, Iyer has enjoyed the role of captaining an IPL side with Delhi Capitals before.

'What a sight!' - Wild moment riders with swords on horses steal attention at Giro d'Italia 2022

Cycling fans have grown accustomed to seeing memorable sights on the side of the roads at Grand Tours — and Stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia did not disappoint. It is not unusual to say fans sprinting alongside the riders for hopelessly fleeting moments, or indeed to see amateurs attempting to keep pace with the peloton for as long as possible (not very long) from a side path.

Lucknow Super Giants will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 53 of the Indian Premier League at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Playing in the IPL for the first time, LSG have punched well above their weight, and are currently second in the points table with 12 points. Meanwhile, with just four wins in 10 games, KKR are languishing in the eighth spot, and a defeat might end their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. After losing five games on the bounce, KKR got back to winning ways in their last game against Rajasthan Royals.

Shah Rukh Khan is a passionate Indian Premier League (IPL) team owner. Almost after every match of his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) he has a message for them on social media. IPL 2022: Sanju Samson rues batting failure in defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders

Rajasthan Royals' (RR) captain Sanju Samson considered his batters' inability to score boundaries in the death overs on a slow pitch as the reason for his side's seven-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Monday. Samson said with his batters failing to master the KKR bowling on a slow track at the Wankhede Stadium, they fell short by 15-20 runs. "I think the wicket was a bit slow and they bowled really well, but with the batting we have, I would have liked to score a few more boundaries at the end. I think we were short 15-20 runs," said Samson in the post-match presentation on Monday.

IPL 2022, KKR vs RR: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Rajasthan Royals to end 5-match losing streak

Kolkata Knight Riders' gameplan. And for a change, they got it right this time as they beat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to stage a comeback after five consecutive defeats in this IPL. The purple brigade made two changes to the playing XI, trying out their fifth opening pair of the season. Although KKR lost both openers Baba Indrajit and Aaron Finch inside the Powerplay, the good work done by their bowlers to restrict RR to a below-par 152/5, after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put the opposition in, helped them to get 158/3 in 19.1 overs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. AS IT HAPPENED | SCORECARD | POINTS TABLERR's heroes in their last match against KKR - Jos Buttler, who got 103 off 60 balls and Yuzvendra Chahal, who claimed a fifer - came a cropper, which made a big difference to their fortunes. Man-in-form Buttler had a rare off day, managing just 22, and Chahal returned with none for 31 off his four overs. Ashwin also failed to impress, giving away 33 runs without any success. The unbroken 66-run fourth-wicket stand between left-handers Rinku Singh (42) and Nitish Rana (48) sealed the deal for KKR and kept them alive to fight another day. KKR benched both their retained domestic players Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy, but seemed to have got an able partner to Sunil Narine, their most effective bowler this season, with Anukul Roy rising to the occasion on his debut match for the franchise.
