"Disappointed" But "Memorable": Jasprit Bumrah Tweets Match Ball Pic Post Fifer vs Kolkata Knight Riders In IPL 2022

Jasprit Bumrah had till last week had a rather poor season in terms of wickets taken in IPL 2022. Mumbai Indians' premier paceman had taken only 5 wickets in 10 matches and was enduring a disappointing season like his team Mumbai Indians. In a World Cup year, Bumrah's lack of wickets in the best T20 league all over the world must have been a matter of slight worry even for the India team management.

IPL 2022: Did too many decision makers contribute to Kolkata Knight Riders' downfall?

This age old adage fits aptly on Kolkata Knight Riders, who are staring at early elimination from the 2022 season, after competing in title-clash last year. While they are still afloat after beating wooden-spooners Mumbai Indians by 52 runs, the post-match comments from captain Shreyas Iyer have certainly opened the pandora's box, raising questions if there is too much of interference from the management, especially long-standing CEO Venky Mysore. A testimony to KKR's problems has been the fact that 20 players have played in 12 games.

Watch: Out Or Not Out? Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma's Controversial Dismissal Against Kolkata Knight Riders In Focus

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was a frustrated man on Monday. After his team restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 165/9 in 20 overs, a lot was expected of Rohit Sharma -- the batter. However, he could not contribute much. Rohit fell for just two off six balls in the first over of the chase, bowled by KKR pacer Tim Southee. More than the score, it was his dismissal that created a lot of buzz. To add to it, MI lost the game by a massive 52 runs for their ninth loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

IPL 2022, MI vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders stay alive after 52-run win against Mumbai Indians

Bumrah's 5/10 in vain as batsmen flopMUMBAI: Jasprit Bumrah bowled one of the finest spells you would have ever seen in the IPL at the DY Patil Stadium on Monday night, but it wasn't enough to lift Mumbai Indians from the mediocrity that they have slipped into in IPL 2022. After Bumrah's devastating 5/10 in four overs of high-class pace bowling restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 165 for nine in 20 overs, the two-time champions came roaring back into the contest, as Pat Cummins (3/22), Andre Russell (2/22) and Tim Southee (1/10) returned fire with fire to ensure a 52-run win which keeps their team alive in the race for the playoffs. AS IT HAPPENED | SCORECARD | POINTS TABLEWith 10 points (five wins and seven losses), the Knight Riders climbed from the ninth to the seventh spot, with two games to go. Badly missing Suryakumar Yadav, who's out of the rest of the IPL due to a left forearm muscle injury, MI, done and dusted, crashed to 113 all out in just 17.3 overs, losing their last eight wickets for 44 runs in merely 42 balls.

"All's Not Well...": Ex-India Player Hints Equation Between Captain Shreyas Iyer And Coach Brendon McCullum Behind Kolkata Knight Riders' Performance

Kolkata Knight Riders made as many as five changes for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 game against Mumbai Indians on Monday. So far, KKR have used 20 players in the IPL 2022 but are yet to get their combination right. It has reflected on their performance as well as they have been able to win only four out of their 11 games going into the clash against MI. Former Indian cricket team player Mohammad Kaif said in an interview that the equation between KKR captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Brendon McCullum did not seem right from the outside.

IPL 2022, MI vs KKR LIVE Updates: Venkatesh Iyer Departs, Kolkata Knight Riders 1 Down vs Mumbai Indians

Aiming to post a strong target, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are gaining momentum vs Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 56 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Monday. Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane are currently batting for KKR and building a partnership. MI are currently bottom of the IPL 2022 Points Table with four points in 10 fixtures, including two wins and eight defeats. Having lost their first eight fixtures, MI are out of contention for the playoffs. But with pride at stake, they have won their last two games and will be aiming to maintain that run. In their previous fixture, they defeated second-placed Gujarat Titans (GT) by five runs. All eyes will be on Tim David, who smacked an unbeaten knock of 44 runs off 21 balls (including two fours and four sixes). Meanwhile, KKR are ninth in the standings with eight points from 11 fixtures (four wins and seven defeats). The Shreyas Iyer-led side lost their previous fixture against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 75 runs. Kolkata will be relying on Andre Russell to maintain his good form after the all-rounder took two wickets in three overs vs LSG. He also hammered 45 runs off 19 balls (including three fours and five sixes). KKR are also still mathematically in contention to qualify for the playoffs. KKR's net run rate of -0.304 is only better than MI and they need to win their remaining three games by huge margins. Also, other match results need to fall in their favour for a fourth-place finish. (LIVE SCORECARD)
