On Defeat To RCB, Punjab Kings Head Coach Ricky Ponting Namedrops 'Virat Kohli' In Blunt Admission

Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting was disappointed with his team's batting effort against Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he felt that the strip was far better than the 157 it managed during the seven-wicket defeat in an IPL game on Sunday. Virat Kohli anchored the chase with an unbeaten 73 while Devdutt Padikkal contributed 61 as RCB won with seven balls to spare.

Shreyas Iyer's Honest Admission After Punjab Kings' Loss To RCB: "Not Able To Capitalise..."

Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Mullanpur on Sunday, allowing the visitors to avenge their earlier loss in the season. The win lifted RCB to third spot on the points table with five wins, three losses, and 10 points -- the same as PBKS, who now sit fourth due to net run rate. Shreyas Iyer, leading Punjab Kings, addressed the team's struggles after the match.

RCB Star Slams 3 Sixes In A Row Against Punjab Kings, Leaves Everyone Stunned - Watch

Pressure to score quick runs and clever bowling by Punjab Kings restricted Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a disappointing 95 for nine despite Tim David's rollicking fifty in their IPL match that was pruned to 14 overs per side due to rain on Friday. The match started at 9.45 pm after a steady drizzle refused to fade away for a good part of the evening, and Kings' skipper Shreyas Iyer did not hesitate to bowl first. The decision proved right as Punjab bowlers plucked three wickets in the power play segment, which was curtailed to four overs because of the delayed start. Phil Salt started the proceedings with a crisp boundary but perished in the first over itself, trying to hammer Arshdeep Singh (2/23) out of the park and stumper Josh Inglis completed a good catch.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Punjab Kings LIVE Score, IPL 2025: Bad News For Fans As Rain Gets Heavier; RCB vs PBKS Toss Delayed

Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Punjab Kings LIVE Updates, IPL 2025: Toss for the IPL 2025 match between RCB and PBKS has been delayed due to rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The cut off time for toss is 10:41 PM while 10.56 PM is that for the start of play. There was some drizzle in the lead up to the game, before the downpour got heavier. The form of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt at the top has been a big positive for RCB, who currently sit third with eight points from six matches. PBKS are behind them on fourth, but only on Net Run-Rate. Both teams are likely to remain unchanged. PBKS will be high on confidence after their 16-run win over KKR in a recent low-scoring thriller. (Live Scorecard)

"You Need To Wake Up": Rs 4.2 Crore Punjab Kings Star, With 41 Runs And 4 Wickets In 6 Games, Sent Brutal Warning

It has been a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign for Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell till now. Maxwell, who was bought by the franchise for Rs 4.2 crore in the mega auction, has cored just 41 runs in six matches at an average of 8.20. He has been slightly better with the ball as he has taken 4 wickets. However, senior Indian cricket team batter Cheteshwar Pujara was not happy with his performances and in a recent interaction, he urged Maxwell to work on his approach. Pujara said that Maxwell needs to 'wake up' and if this was any other player, they would have been dropped from the team by now.

Punjab Kings Shatter All-Time IPL Record, Skipper Shreyas Iyer's Fortunes Turn

The best thing about time is that it changes. This phrase, often used by people to comfort their close and loved ones during times of distress, surely holds true for Punjab Kings (PBKS) and their captain Shreyas Iyer. From Kolkata to Mullanpur, PBKS, yet to lay hands on an Indian Premier League (IPL) title, provided fans with unpredictability, entertainment and an opportunity to be a part of two big milestones of league's history. Last year at Eden Garden's, in Kolkata, when Iyer was captaining KKR, his men were taken down brutally by a Jonny Bairstow-powered PBKS during a successful run-chase of 262 runs, the highest-ever run-chase in T20 cricket history.

Chahal stars as Punjab defend IPL’s lowest total of 111 in ‘best win’

CHANDIGARH: Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal returned figures of 4-28 as Punjab Kings defended IPL’s lowest ever total of 111 to down holders Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in a thriller on Tuesday. Kolkata looked to be cruising at 62-2 before Chahal cut through the chase with his leg-spin, and the side collapsed to 95 all out in 15.1 overs at Mullanpur, near Chandigarh. Punjab were earlier bowled out for 111 in 15.3 overs but Chahal and company turned the match on its head to better Chennai Super Kings’ record — they defended 116 against them (formerly Kings XI Punjab) in 2009. Kolkata’s Andre Russell attempted to pull off the chase from 79-8 when he hit two sixes and a four off Chahal but Punjab held their nerve. Arshdeep Singh sent back Vaibhav Arora and then fellow left-arm quick Marco Jansen bowled Russell to trigger wild celebrations in Punjab’s home ground. “I have coached a lot of games in the IPL and that might just be about the best win I ever had,” head coach Ricky Ponting said after the close contest. Kolkata skipper Ajinkya Rahane and impact substitute Angkrish Raghuvanshi put on 55 runs for the third wicket when Chahal broke through to get the captain back in the pavilion lbw. Ball tracker suggested the ball was outside the off stump, but Rahane did not take the review. “Pretty disappointed with the effort,” said Rahane.
