Former Pakistan cricket team skipper Javed Miandad has weighed in on the controversy surrounding India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup citing security concerns. While the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) have made their stance clear in the matter, reports claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also threatened to pull out of the World Cup in India. However, nothing concrete has emerged till now. A new report claimed that Pakistan could end up playing their World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai according to a source close to the developments.

The Pakistan cricket team would prefer playing bulk of its 2023 ODI World Cup matches in Chennai and Kolkata -- the two venues where the team has felt safe during its earlier tours, according to ICC sources. The World Cup will start tentatively on October 5, with 46 matches, including final set to be played across 12 Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Rajkot, Bengaluru, Delhi, Indore, Mohali, Guwahati and Hyderabad. It is understood that discussions are currently on at the ICC level as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) bigwigs are in talks with a top level ICC executive on the issue, which still remains a sensitive one.

Pakistan Could Lose USD 3 Million If It Skips Asia Cup: Najam Sethi, Cricket Board Chief

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has said that it stands to lose around USD 3 million in revenues from the tournament if the country refuses to play in the Asia Cup this year. Sethi said that Pakistan was willing to bear this loss of revenue as it was "a matter of principle" as far as the hosting rights of the Asia Cup are concerned. "We have made it very clear that unless the Asia Cup is held on a hybrid model like we have proposed, that is India playing its matches at an offshore venue and Pakistan hosting the remaining games at home we will not accept any other schedule and neither play," he said.

Shahid Afridi-Led Panel Wanted Babar Azam "To Be Replaced As Captain": Najam Sethi

The chairman of PCB management committee, Najam Sethi, has revealed that Shahid Afridi-led interim selection panel initially wanted to replace Babar Azam as captain. However, he added that as soon as the panel members took their role, they changed their mind. PCB went through a series of changes in December last year. It included the sacking of the then chairman Ramiz Raja from his role with Najam Sethi taking over the duties later. Meanwhile, the PCB also appointed Shahid Afridi as the chaiman of the National Selection Committee for the home series against New Zealand.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has predicted that young pacer Arshdeep Singh can play in all three formats for India in the future. He was part of the Indian team for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year. However, after suffering an injury, Arshdeep struggled to cement his place in the team.

Grant Bradburn Named Pakistan Head Coach For New Zealand Series

Pakistan on Friday appointed Grant Bradburn as the head coach of their men's team for their upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand. Bradburn, 56, played seven Tests and 11 one-day internationals for New Zealand before taking up coaching. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) added that Andrew Puttick of South Africa will join the staff as batting coach. The head coach position fell vacant after Saqlain Mushtaq's term ended in February. Abdul Rahman filled in for the three Twenty20s against Afghanistan last month.
