Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has praised the Indian cricket board (BCCI) for announcing a substantial increase in the prize money for domestic competitions. As per the recent announcement, the winners of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier first-class cricket tournament, will receive prize money of Rs 5 crore (approx. USD 670,000). Kaneria took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the move and added that other cricket boards from across the world should learn from the BCCI.

A hailstorm shower ended the fourth Twenty20 international in Rawalpindi after New Zealand's Mark Chapman and Chad Bowes hit aggressive half centuries against Pakistan on Thursday. Chapman was 71 not out off 42 balls as New Zealand -- sent in to bat by Pakistan -- were 164-5 in 18.5 overs when rain stopped play at Rawalpindi stadium. It turned into a hailstorm as match officials assessed the conditions before calling off the match as abandoned. Pakistan leads the five-match series 2-1 after winning the first two matches by 88 and 38 runs while New Zealand took the third by four runs -- all in Lahore.

Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday confirmed Mickey Arthur's appointment as the men's team director, a post which will ensure him play a major role in the preparations for the 50-over World Cup to be held in India later this year. In his role, the 54-year-old Arthur, who served as Pakistan head coach between 2016 and 2019, will be involved in designing, formulating and overseeing strategies for the men's team.

All-rounder James Neesham held his nerve in the final over to give New Zealand a dramatic four-run win over Pakistan in the third T20 international in Lahore on Monday despite Iftikhar Ahmed's brilliant innings. Ahmed brought Pakistan back into the contest from 88-7 with a whirlwind 24-ball 60 as they attempted to chase down New Zealand's 163-5. Needing 15 to win from Neesham's final over, he hit a six and a four to reduce the target to five off the last three deliveries.

Matt Henry picked up a hat-trick spread across two overs in the first T20I against Pakistan in Lahore to join an elite group of New Zealand bowlers. Henry had derailed Pakistan's innings in the 13th over with the wickets of Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed off back-to-back deliveries. Shadab was caught out by Latham off the penultimate ball of the over and Itikhar fell the next ball, edging again to the wicketkeeper. Henry returned in the 19th over to dismiss Shaheen Afridi off the first ball, caught brilliantly near the ropes by Daryl Mitchell off the first ball in the over.

Pakistan celebrated skipper Babar Azam's 100th international match in the shortest format with a clinical 88-run win in the first T20I against New Zealand in Lahore on Friday. Azam failed with just nine runs but Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub scored 47 runs each and put on a 79-run partnership for the third wicket to anchor Pakistan to 182 all out in 19.5 overs. Fast bowler Haris Rauf, one of five players who returned after being rested in Pakistan's last series against Afghanistan, took career best figures of 4-18 as New Zealand were 94 all out in 15.3 overs.

When Pakistan captain Babar Azam will take the field in the first T20I agaisnt New Zealand on Friday, he will become only the third player from his country to play 100 T20Is. Babar, who is tied on 99 appearances with Shahid Afridi, will join veteran all-rounders Shoaib Malik (123) and Mohammad Hafeez (119) in the elite list of Pakistan players with 100 or more appearances in the shortest format of the game. So far, Babar has scored 3,355 runs in T20Is with the help of two centuries and 30 fifties.
